A new website has launched for men who have lost someone to breast cancer.

"Much has been written by women for women on the subject of breast cancer, but there is not much available for men who have lost their partner to breast cancer," said Alan L. Simons, the Toronto-based author who launched www.breastcancerinlovingmemory.info.

Simons lost his partner to breast cancer after just 18 months together.
When they met, she had been in remission for several of years, but a few months into their relationship, the cancer came back.

"To this day I have many questions about my own relationship with my partner that I have difficulty in answering. There have been many times that I've been asked to explain why I so readily agreed to embrace a relationship that was thwarted in terminality," said Simons.

Simons said the aim of the site is to let men who have lost someone to breast cancer to share their stories and find emotional support.

Cancer is a devastating illness for all involved... I was diagnosed with a very minor form of the disease that had grown relatively serious when I was in my early twenties and was lucky to have had some good doctors and have been free now for over 15 years, but it was hard to watch how devastating it was for my loved ones when they found out about it... in someways I think it might even have been harder on them.

I have also known women with breast cancer, some of whom have passed and witnessed how hard it was on their partners... its good to see anyone trying to help those who try to support their loved ones and those who have lost someone they love.
